Italian food by Lomography X-Pro Slide 200

On a sunny April Sunday, I decided to load a Lomography X-Pro Slide 200 on my new Lomo LC-A+; both bought few weeks ago from the Lomography Online Shop to take some photos of some Italian food stalls in the center of my city, Como. Here my first impressions about this interesting film.

This is the first time that I tried a roll of *Lomography X-Pro Slide 200* film that I bought some week ago from the Lomography Online Shop, together with a nice *Lomo LC-A+*. I used this film on a sunny Sunday morning to photograph some interesting stalls of Italian food.

I was in doubt whether to develop the film normally, like a slide, or cross processing it in C-41. The sky was of a wonderful blue, so I thought to develop it in E6 mode at first. But after few days, I decided to try cross processing it.

This decision was reached after a short reflection: after all I had photographed the stalls and the sky was virtually absent (or a secondary part) in my photos. So I decided to give an unusual color to the wonderful Italian food instead!

I love the little yellow that is dominant in these photos, as well as the total absence of purple tones that I seldom like in my cross processed photos.

The grain is not so contained as I expected, but it is still acceptable.

The saturated red tones are wonderful!

The cyan/blue dominant in the clear parts of this image are delicate and don’t disturb the slight yellow’s overall tone.

The film works well even in high contrast situations.

The only tones that I don’t like too much are present in the last photo: I’m not satisfied with the colors of the sky. But this is the only photo that I dislike. In the other photos where the sky appears, the tones are so delicate and bright that I appreciate them! Conclusion: this is a very interesting film, that next time I’ll process it in E6 mode to make another test.

Lomo On!
