Fuji Neopan 400CN

Sharp. Deep. Bright. Fun. And you can even get it processed using the C-41 process! I stumbled across this film many moons ago, when I bought an odd job of film off eBay in August last year.

The first time I used it was at my god daughter’s second birthday. I popped it in to my newly purchased Yashica T4 and popped off to her parents house. It was a was a very sunny, action packed day and its was a very fun day.

As you can see from the photos, they are really sharp, captured the tones really well and also cope with movement. I fell in love with this film from the second I say these photos.

I’ve also used the same combination of T4 and Neopan 400 at nights out. First time round it was at Halloween at the Guild Hall in Chester. It was a burlesque night and the lights were very low when the lights went down and we all started to boogie in to the early hours These photos were taken on the dance floor using the T4’s built in flash.

Again the film coped really well with the light and the movement on the dance floor. You can really see the detail in Kitten De Ville’s outfit as she danced the night away. I was really surprised that these photos came out really well. It was a shame that I only took one roll with me.

I have also used it in my Lomo LC-A+, I under exposed the film to get some real deep contrast between the sky and the land, it was a very grey and wet day, but I still wanted to take some photos while I was out walking on the hills. I love the deepness of the blacks and the grey tones in the sky .

Again, using my LC-A+ around Chester, this again was on a dingy November day in Chester. This time pushing the film and slightly over exposing the shots to bring out the whites. I love the shot of the swan with ducks behind it and the shot of the houses, really shows off the greys nicely.

I also took it my LC-A+ loaded with Neopan 400 around Liverpool, mainly around the back of the docs looking out on to the Mersey. Great tones and depth.

I last used my T4 with Neopan 400, again at the Guild Hall for new years eve . Again a burlesque night , with the theme “birds of paradise.” This time I had learned my mistakes. Again most (apart from the one of the dancer on the stage) of these shots are taken in complete darkness, with the light coming from the flash.

Price, your looking as low as £2.53 and that is direct from the Fujifilm UK Online Shop. You can get it developed via the C-41 process. So you can get your black and white shots developed on your hour lunch break. This is the black and with film that I always go to, whether I’m going on a night out or a gentle country walk. A very versatile film that can handle a wide range of light, will give you sharp detail, and will give your blacks great depth. I love this film, nuff said.
