   I'm always touched by the unknown graves from the Civil War era @hervinsyah . The government wasn't prepared for the war, including how to mark and maintain the records. In many areas, like Beaufort, battlefield burials around the area were later consolidated into this National Cemetery. Alas, the details of who was buried was lost, sometimes paperwork, most times the original wooden markers were lost.
