Newcomer of the Week: Polish-cezar

His camera shelf is something a LomoGuru would want to have. A collection of film cameras old and new that slowly builds this Lomographer’s character and skill!

He sure is new in this Community but his Lomographs are pretty much at par of those who have been here for years. They are far from perfect but we truly adore them! And with the hospitality he has been receiving from the Community, I think he’s here to stay! Meet this week’s featured newcomer from the UK!

How did you find out about the Community and who/what convinced you to join?

I came across it somewhere on the internet as you do, looked at some photos, read some articles and thought it’s a nice place to be and when I started using film more I decided to join myself.

Any inspirations when it comes to taking film photographs?

My Granddad, he was a ‘pro’ back in Poland in 1980’s through to 90’s. I saw some photos and slides he took and I was amazed. He told me a lot about photography and I follow that in my ‘serious’ photos. There are a lot of famous photographers now and back in the day which we all look at and think “I want to be like them.” My Granddad is my personal inspiration.

Any song or movie you live by? Please share.

Music is a big thing for me; Arctic Monkeys and Miles Kane are by far my favourites. I’m in love with Alex Turner, the front man of AM and my girlfriend isn’t happy about that. I guess this sort of music suits me. Ever since I heard both acts for the first time I just connected with them straight away.

As you have read the 10 Golden Rules of Lomography, what rule do you apply in your everyday life?

I think all the rules apply to my film photos except one and that’s shooting from the hip. Unless it’s my Lubitel. I think I just prefer seeing the image and be in control of it. But I might try it one day!

In this digital age, why still film?

It’s exciting, more involving, and makes me think before clicking that shutter button. Using old cameras is so much fun, and shooting film is a fantastic excuse to get them off the shelf. Film photos have much more character. The process of film photography is very intriguing and something digital can never equal. Developing B&W film myself was the best thing I’ve done since the start, I get shivers when I’m about to take the film off the spool and check the negs!

What are you looking forward to in our Community?

I like the idea of a “film-only” club. I was excited to show my photos and I already had great feedback from the Community. I’m excited to get to know people who are into the same hobby. It’s amazing who you can meet through a creative thing like photography. People seem lovely and full of fantastic ideas here and I’m glad to be a part of this. I’m eager to get more involved, I’d love to write some articles. Lastly, I’m definitely waiting for a Bristol, UK meet up! Please let me know and I’ll be there!

Your favorite analogue camera as of the moment? Why?

My Lubitel 166 Universal. It’s so different from my other cameras. Looking down to frame and focus is strange but offers a new challenge to overcome. Also, it’s my only medium format camera and I got hooked when I developed my first 120 film — the size of the negatives blew my head off!

What is the Lomographic camera you’d want to have someday?

I want an LC-Wide because wide angle photos are my favourites. A combination of a super simple, classic camera like the LC-A with a really wide angle lens is something that I would love to shoot with.

Your favorite section or page in our Lomography site?

Photos! I like the way I can browse the picture by camera, film, location etc. It’s easy and quick. Also, I like the articles and Tipsters, lots of good ideas and great stuff I’d like to try myself. The whole website is very pleasant, I could list all day.
