Share to us your most memorable experience in the Lomographic community

I think one of the coolest things that happened to me in my time was when I was lucky enough to have an exhibit at one of my friend’s salon. During the process of getting my photos printed up large and framed, an employee of the print shop asked me if I stole the pictures I was printing offline. I was naturally appalled and asked why he thought I would do something like that and his response was that he just assumed I took them because he had seen them on Lomography in the popular section before.

Have you actually met people in the Community that you now consider as close friends? If yes, name at least one of them.

Aside from the guy at the print shop most of the people I know in Lomography are geographically distant and therefore I haven’t really made friends that I can easily hangout with “in real life”. That being said I would count a bunch of folks from Lomography as friends, kingnate, eskimofriend, peropero, and many more who have been great electronic friends. Hopefully in the future I’ll be able to hang out with them as well as some of my Lomo favourites like fivedayforcast and clickiemcpete.

Do you think you’ll still be taking Lomographs in the next 5 years? Why?

I assume I’ll still be doing Lomo in 5 years; it is just sort of the way that I document my life but like a lot of us, I have anxieties about the future. Right now I have a great lab that does all my processing quick and cheap but who knows if they will still be doing film in 5 years? Film is getting harder to find off line and it is just getting tougher I guess.

What is your favorite Lomo camera and why? Do you have any memorable experiences while using this camera?

My favorite is probably the LC-A+ because of its versatility. I love that it has all the bells and whistles, hot shoe, cable release, tripod mount, Splitzer, Krab, and all that. I can do so much and the light meter attached to the shutter gives some of the best worry free long and multiple exposures to boot. My best memories with this cam are just all the wacky pictures that I was able to take with my Grand Father. Since his passing these pictures are all the better. Actually the very last picture that was taken of him was with my LC-A+.

Is there any advice you can give to new analogue shooters?

The best advice I have for newbies is to keep a healthy balance in staging their shots and just take random Lomographs without thinking. Also, maybe it is always a good idea to look at tag sales and junk stores and just buy any old crappy camera and mess with them. Lomo doesn’t need to cost you a lot. You know, 10 shots that I have in my “Most Popular” section, 7 of them were taken with a Vivitar UWS that I bought for $2 and was modified to remove the shutter and make a long exposure monster.

They are the ones whose passion transcends not only by what they do and say, but also with what they see and capture with their film cameras. And with such attributes aforementioned, they are what we call LomoGurus! Every week, we get to ask questions and reveal some insights with the most talented and productive of all Lomographers from the community!
