Sunny Sardina days or not?

This roll completely stumped me. The first half was taken on a pretty sunny day but the images appear somewhat pastel-like and subdued. The 2nd half of the roll also taken on a sunny day came out very contrasty and intense. No flash was used for any part of the roll since I didn't own the fritz the blitz yet. Hmmm...ideas anyone?
