The event of the month.

Spring. Mid May. My old friend Epiphyllum ackermanii was for some time without the attention he was accustomed to. Apparently, therefore, he decided to remind everyone about himself, and demonstrate what he is still capable of. My Epiphyllum ackermanii has blossomed. In my opinion, this event became the event of the month, maybe the whole year. Unforgettable beauty, unforgettable days, unforgettable emotions. #spring #may #cactus #Epiphyllum #flowers

Pretty amazing result from Kodak. The greens and red are so Fuji. Not complaining as this is super cool shot :)

    Dear GUYPINHAS
Thank you for your attention, opinion and rating.
Thank you very much for your interest and question.
I think you are familiar with Kodak Aerocolor film. This is the one from films that has a completely transparent discolored substrate. Perhaps that is why this film is expose much longer (at the beginning and at the end) than ordinary film. In addition, I noticed that this is a very specific the expose. Perhaps because the cake of emulsions from the inside have expose. I guess that's why this film produces frames with loss of one or more colors. This photo is just one of those, taken on the expose area of the film (the upper part of the frame). Once again, I am surprised that the expose area retains the ability to register an image with good contrast, etc. This is another example of this observation

And it is also interesting that the result of this exposure of the film is different. There was practically no red color left in the photo peony, maybe 5%. And in the photo of the cactus red color, even more than necessary, in some places it was > 250.

I think that our films have such a long and difficult life that each of them can look different in the scanner. And the scanner itself has its own character and changeable mood. Therefore, when I saw photos of cactus flowers on Kodak Aerocolor 125 film after my scanner, I could not believe my eyes and my comrade Coolskan. I tried many times to persuade him to show me something else, but of all the options, I chose this one. It is very close to his view of this frame and this particular film. I reduced only the red color.

@awa-awa I actually never shot that kind of film, ever. Most of my Kodak color film is one or another iteration of Ektachrome (HC, EPP etc etc etc). I think film plays a big role, but so does developing and of course the lens. As of recently I realized how important of a role a lens plays in how an image gets its character. I think it was Kubrick that would buy ten of the same lens and would test all of them just to keep one that he thought was best.

@awa-awa You're right, with all those expired films we never really know what has happened to them so it's really a crap shoot. And indeed, a scanner for whatever reason has it's own idea of what it wants to do which with color can be interesting, sometimes :)

Yes, dear GUYPINHAS, I think that the fluctuations in the parameters associated with the film are so large that the influence of the quality and characteristics of the lens on the result should be taken into account only by comparing frames adjacent in time (of course, with big reservations)

i love to maintain my photography gear myself and love to take pictures with it. to develop it myself i have to wait until i stop working and am retired and have more time. But I'm always happy when photos are developed here in Lomography by lomographers themselves. Compliment!!!! Kind Regards Ralph
