Daguerreotype Achromat Projects: Lomographer Lzyrich

2

Continuously igniting creativity within the Lomography community, Singaporean veteran Lomographer Richard Lin is at it again by showing us the beauty of experimental success with his Daguerreotype Achromat 2.9/64 Art Lens.

He paired the Daguerreotype Achromat 2.9/64 Art Lens with some color infrared film and shares with us some thoughts on this unique project through his LomoHome - @lzyrich.

How have you been? Any new projects we missed?

Hello everyone. I have to apologise for not being active in the community as I have to juggle between work and my studies. Nevertheless, I will try to find time to shoot and post more photos in my LomoHome as this is what I enjoyed doing most. Tentatively working on some filmswap projects and not forgetting to post photos of my recent trip to Kaohsiung, Taiwan in March. So follow me and stay tuned :)

Tell us more about your recent project involving the Daguerreotype Achromat 2.9/64 Art Lens.

My most recent post was about testing out a color infrared film which I bought from Film Photography Project. I loaded it in my Nikon FM2 with the Lomography Daguerreotype Achromat 2.9/64 Art Lens, and testing out during a photowalk with my fellow film shooters. I also did attach and orange filter during the shoot. After which I have it sent to The Darkroom for E6 processing and the results turned out to be pinkish. It's kind of like a duo chrome colour rather than the red and tones you saw on a Kodak Aerochrome film. Maybe it's due to the filter I used. Regardless, I liked the results!

Can you share with us memorable stories during your shoot?

We shot the film in Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park in Singapore. There's one place I literally have to step into the water at near kneecap level to shoot. My friends think I'm crazy, well sometimes we have to sacrifice in order to get a good shot. Agree?

You've done cool Filmswap Projects lately, any advise for other Lomographers keen to try Filmswap Projects with other members of the community?

Remember to take notes such as weather/lighting of the shoot, the shutter speed, aperture and the speed of the film (ISO). When doing doubles, do make sure that you shoot one stop higher than the box speed and try to take subjects with a darker colour so that both images will go well together. If you are doing a filmswap with another friend, do make sure you marked out the exposed frame on the film so that your friend can try to align them together.

Anything else you'd like to tell the readers?

Don't be afraid of making mistakes. Life is about making mistakes, the more mistakes we made, the better we get. Sometimes you will be surprised with the results from the mistakes you made.

Thanks for the chat, Richard!
