Route 55 Tour Diary With The Knocks

The New York-based electronic duo crossed the country on a tour bus and had a Lomo’Instant Wide in tow. Ben “B-Roc” Ruttner and James “JPatt” Patterson of The Knocks have been producing hip hop music in New York since they were teenagers. They draw inspiration from classic rock, soul, disco, gospel and hiphop to make fun and funky music you can’t help but move to.

B-Roc on the Lomo’Instant Wide:“I have always loved taking photos. I had an older Lomography camera ages ago but lost it, so I was super happy to get to play with the new one. We also played with the double exposure and color gels when we were kinda bored sitting around killing time. All the features are incredible and you can really get creative.”

On their Route 55 tour: “We definitely weren’t expecting to sell out as many shows as we did and that was an incredible feeling. We’ve always been the opening act, so for our first headline tour to be such a success was a big milestone for us. It was also our first time having our own tour bus, which was really awesome. We had quite a bit of parties on the bus after the show and a lot of people would just grab the Lomo’Instant and snap pics, which was cool. At a handful of the shows we would take photos with the crowd, which they loved because when we post them they can go tag themselves in our Facebook and Instagram, so they have a memory from that night.”
