Community LomoAmigo Susielomovitz And Her LomoKino First Hand Privilege

For some, the LomoKino seems like another toy camera that is bound to break and be forgotten in the next couple of years.

But this is definitely false for this week’s LomoKino LomoAmigo, Susie, or more known as susielomovitz in our Community as she talks about her movies and true adoration for the glorious analogue movie maker.

Read on our interview with her as she tells us her first hand privilege in using the LomoKino and what other analogue adventures she currently has in mind.

Tell us about yourself. What do you do for a living? What are your interests?

What I do for a living? That’s usually boring, that’s why you get paid for that. I prefer to talk about what I do for pleasure — like taking photos, going out with friends, have lovely dinners with my boyfriend, go to the movies, some exhibitions, walks… And my interests? Analogue photography, graphic design, interior design, “general” design, art, gastronomy (eating, not cooking), fashion and having fun! I would love to dance, even if I’m not good at it, but I don’t dance (yet).

How long have you been a Lomographer and how did you find out about the Community?

Three years, I think? I have a very very bad memory and I’m really bad with time. Two and a half? Mmm… I really don’t know (blush).

Describe the LomoKino in five words.

Action. Movement. Silence. Expression. Half-minute.

How did you like shooting with the LomoKino?

I just love shooting with the LomoKino! I love the fact that you have to spin the crank fast while shooting. I think that makes you get very involved in the action. And the no-audio thing… Perfect!

What or who has inspired you to purchase and use the LomoKino?

I had the honor of being one of the testers so Lomography sent me my beloved LomoKino! I did some test movies and after that I have thought of many Kino projects. One of them is done, the Lomo Christmas Eve, which I think is the biggest LomoKino movie I’ve done until now.

Any funny or strange encounters you’ve had with it?

The first impression of my Uncle when he saw the camera was: "That’s stupid“ (and he likes analogue) but when he saw the movie I did with her daughter and a friend of her, The Sad Story of Princess Inés, he gazed open-mouthed! And now he is really interested in what I do with my “stupid” yet amazing camera!

If you could shoot any person alive or dead (or imaginary) with your LomoKino, who would it be and why?

Once I said Marcel Marceau, who I still would loooove to shoot. But Elvis… Elvis Presley… Wow!

Kindly share to us any LomoKino movie you love the most.

Since I saw Sun Dance, just after the Lomokino launch, by nadinadu, I always talk about that movie like a reference of what a brilliant Lomographer can do with the LomoKino. I really like that movie. It’s so beautiful.

Any future plans with your LomoKino? More shoots or a full-length film perhaps?

Oh yes! I have a big funny plan, but it’s a secret! A big funny plan my friends!

Your advice to future LomoKino users.

HAVE FUN and work on the "idea”. Do not concern much about the technical aspects, focus on the idea, what you want to tell and how you are going to tell it.
