Tell the community a little bit about yourself! What funny things do you do in regular life and is it the same thing you make your money with?
I’m Italian but I work abroad as expat for already 12 years. I’m a manager of a big multinational company, so the job itself is not really much of fun. Lomography is the real fun for me. Being a Lomographer is de-stressing and stimulating.

How long have you been a Lomographer and how could you describe your vision upon Lomography?
I started with a Holga I bought for curiosity at the National Photography Museum in Rotterdam almost 5 years ago. But at that time I was still very much into digital. I consider myself being a hardcore Lomographer since one year now, when I decided to quit shooting digital photographs.

How does an average day of Giuseppe look like?
My average day looks like a busy and boring day. Waking up early to get ready and than 30 minutes walk to the office to keep a bit of shape. Next is office work for 9/10 hours and than back home for dinner and family time. Lomography appears in during my walks, my lunch time, holidays and once I’m on business trips.

How do you capture your snapshots and would you like to reveal your secret snapshot strategy?
Yes, I will reveal my strategy! After years of digital, when the strategy was focused on getting every detail perfect, my present Lomography strategy is DO NOT CARE about anything, just enjoy taking pictures. In the end I’m much happier with the result obtained with this secret strategy. I finally managed to stop running behind an uncatchable photography perfection and I found the perfection just inside the imperfection. I just have to be in the shooting mood, I don’t have to force it as I was doing before.

How did you like shooting with all these Lomography cameras and what did your friends and family think about your passion for Lomography?
Having so many analogue cameras (16 if I’m not wrong, I should re-count them) is fantastic because I choose them based on my mood, on the day, on the weather…. Since every camera works in its own way, every time is almost like using a new one, a new discovery. My friends didn’t understand my decision to switch to analogue at the beginning because they saw it as step backwards. After seeing my pictures they started to realize that it wasn’t a step backwards, but one forward.

De Belair X 6-12.

What is your favorite camera and can you describe it in 5 words?
My first answer would be any analogue camera because they all have their own different way to be great. Having to choose one, I would pick the Belair because it is:

  • flexible (changeble lenses)
  • cool (retro’ styling)
  • handy (autoexposure)
  • unusual (6×12 format)
  • social (inspire curiosity in people asking what is it…)

What was the strangest, funniest, or hands-down greatest Lomographic encounter since you started shooting with Lomography cameras?
One great encounter was the passion for Lomography of the guys and girls working in the Lomography Gallery Store Amsterdam. In fact the few times I’m in Amsterdam, I always try to pass by. But the best encounters are with all the people, friends and strangers, who can’t believe I’m shooting analogue. It is real fun to see their faces when I show them that my cameras don’t have a screen in the back. Or when I tell them I have to wait a couple of weeks to see what I shot. They all see me like an alien.

What is your favorite photo ever on your LomoHome?

If your favorite photo should have a soundtrack, what would it be?

What is your advice for future Lomographers?
Lomography is not simply a type of photography but a way of understanding life. Once you understand, you will not only have fun in taking pictures, but you will really enjoy life like never before.
