Wood Fired Kiln
Exposure time: 2 hours 20 minutes
A neighbour of mine has a wood fired kiln and I was invited to the opening after a firing. Unfortunately, the paint can needed another 12 or more hours...............
Thanks @clickiemcpete, hopefully some of the other film I shot will show some of their amazing work. Four ceramic artists share the kiln and do group firings as the kiln must be fed 24 hours a day to 3 -4 days. They go through 2.5 cords of wood to keep the temperature above 2000 F.
Soda or salt? Ash glazes? I used to be a studio potter but only participated in wood firings a couple of times. It's a ton of work just doing high fire gas reduction but wood firing adds a whole other dimension to it.
