A Summer Retreat In Purple

Paris-based photographer David Elalouf (aka @dudizm) is one of our long-time members, having joined the Lomography community in 2005. While he works with digital cameras for work, he uses analogue cameras for his personal projects. When he's not taking photos he's also a DJ, playing a large range of styles from obscure film soundtracks to jazz, electronic to rock, and Afro-Latin. We asked him to tell us more about these gorgeous summer photos taken with the LomoChrome Purple, which exudes a sexy vintage vibe.

For this photo set, he used his old Nikon F2 with two lenses, a macro for the textures, and a 50mm for the second layer of his multiple exposures.

" I shot this roll in Lizzano beach in South Italy during my summer holidays. It was a sunny Sunday afternoon spent with my Italian companion (@bambola), her niece, and three artist-friends. We drove around Puglia 2 weeks from the coast to the countryside looking for beautiful locations."
"I like the picture of @bambola trying to hold the big leaf to cast some shadow on her young niece, her sunglasses falling while holding this uncomfortable position as she tries to take the shot." – @dudizm

" I decided to shoot different films that day, LomoChrome Purple being one of them. I shot it at 100 ISO. This film has strong colors if well exposed. Green and yellow turn purple, blue skies turn turquoise, and red can be a blast if you make a nice composition. I prefer using this film in nature rather than for street photos where the light is flat. I use it in 120 format as well, the results are very strong too. It is a fun film to experiment with!"

David encourages everyone to try this unique film. As he said, you'll never know if you like it, unless you try it out.

" I also like the fact that people either love it or hate it profoundly. This film is always the center of very passionate conversations among purists claiming the film is of bad quality.
I think they are maybe right but always keep in mind: "What is good or bad for you may not be the same for others!" Make your own opinion by testing it yourself!"

This unique color negative film will astound you by transforming natural tones of your photo into new eye-popping hues. A revival of the psychedelic infrared look from the Kodak Aerochrome film we all love, this film guarantees astounding photographic results.
