LomoMission: Holiday Lights Winners
18 20 Share TweetWe’re bringing the festive spirit of the holiday back with these stellar photographs by our LomoMission winners.
LomoMission: Holiday Lights put the spotlight on the community’s most festive photographs of twinkling Christmas displays. The submissions we received truly imbibed the cheerful mood of the season. We invited LomoGuru @roxyvonschlotterstein from Berlin, Germany to be our guest judge for this LomoMission. Here’s what she has to say about the LomoMission:
Being your guest judge was fun but also challenging. A lot of wonderful holiday lights and Christmas-inspired photos were submitted in this LomoMission therefore picking the winners wasn’t so easy. I chose the ones that conveyed the spirit of the holiday season – those that I felt most connected to. I hope all of you will continue shooting. Congrats to the winners.
roxyvonschlotterstein: The traditional illuminated Christmas tree – how can you not like this photo? Wow. I love its simplicity. The marvelous bokeh effect and its play with the depth of focus highlights it even more. It’s lighted and looks orderly without being just another ordinary photo. I can’t stop looking at it. Outstanding job.
Congratulations @peter_po! Enjoy shooting with your new LC-A 120!
Runners-up of 15 piggies:
roxyvonschlotterstein: I like stars! This shot shows the perfect use of the star-shaped aperture plate of the New Petzval 85 Art Lens. I am so in love with this “stars-shaped outline only” shot. Not exactly knowing what’s behind those lights in the darkness. You can just guess. Maybe it’s a merry-go-round?
roxyvonschlotterstein: The Striezelmarkt in Dresden, Germany is one of the most famous Christmas markets in the world and for good reason. Look at this photo. Don’t you want to stroll around the stalls to feel the festive spirit while munching some delicious Christmas sweets? The shot captured this perfect moment.
roxyvonschlotterstein: I have a soft spot for Christmas trees. And again, I picked a shot with an illuminated Christmas tree. It’s another example of how to play with bokeh. I like the angle as well as the shape. It’s a well-composed shot.
roxyvonschlotterstein: A double exposure of holiday lights and fireworks. Can you ask for more? Even if it happened accidentally it’s still a great image. The festive times most of us celebrate at the end of a year are put together to this great piece of art.
roxyvonschlotterstein: Why not capture holiday lights in monochrome grey tones? I love this still life-like photo a lot. The sight of the beholder is lead directly to the giant deers while the people seem to vanish. Using black and white film was a good choice.
Congratulations to all our winners and thank you to everyone who participated! Also, special thanks to our guest judge roxyvonschlotterstein for these excellent choices!
