One of my lucky failures. Two pictures I both wanted, now they are both there in a hybrid. A sun-trail of a tree in Rapperswil (was supposed to be shot on Ilford Delta) and a star trail experiment that likely would have been exposed correctly if not for the double exposure. But I love what Velvia did with the color of the sky and the crazy vignette of the Yamasaki Congo lens.
My latest sun ventures, one is a view from a serene little courtyard of the University of Zurich and the other from the top of the Speer mountain east of Lake Zurich. I think I have exposure and feel pretty much dialed in, now I just need to find nice spots and see this project through. I am really happy that I get good responses, actually I already sold a couple of large prints! To all the people who like, comment and follow me step by step with this, it is very inspiring to have your support, thank you!
Another sunset, this time with the foreground of one of my favorite trees at Rapperswil pier. About 3hrs 30min exposure with some interesting details in this one; Some leaves are half transparent, meaning they fell down half way during the exposure, nice way showing transitioning seasons. Or the hint of a person sitting on the bench at bottom right. There must have been 50 people briefly standing in my shot over those three hours, I like to believe that they are somehow in there. However, it has a different feel than the purely abstract diagonal sun streak compositions of late.
Another one of my 'Black Sun' series, rather abstract this time. Actually the shot that started it all, my first exposure of Imago Positive paper. More to follow.
Third try of my sun trail experiment, 2hrs exposure, lots of NDs, lots of anticipation. This time I exposed at the 'proper' compensation for this scene and calculating in reciprocity failure overexposing by 8 stops. Still a bit dark, but definitely getting to a result that I pre-visualized. Abstract and minimal as expected! Let me know your thoughts!
Yesterday's short trip to the Schwyz area paid off quite nicely, I am very happy about this shot with Imago Positive Paper, exactly as I imagined to be. Lots of negative space, strong contrast, a strong black sun due to the solarization of the photo paper and a lens flare that I couldn't have arranged at a nicer spot.
The 4th installment of my sun-trail series. I slightly misjudged the path of the sun, would initially have wished for a more diagonal running line. But still, I am loving each shot and each sunset or sunrise that I am allowed to witness
I think I'm getting somewhere, this is my favorite sun trail so far. Framing works, looks really abstract with the diagonale, this would make a nice large print in my opinion. It's just down the road in Richterswil, amazing though how the element of time makes the familiar place feel so special. More sun trails coming up soon, let me know what you think!
Couldn't leave Sevilla without one of these, especially being fortunate enough to have this splendid view every day. I like the fact that the diagonal line is much steeper because I'm more south than Switzerland. Next goal is to travel to a place on the equator and do some portrait format compositions
