Yashica Mat-124G
written by nation_of_pomation on 2011-08-06 #gearWhile visiting friends of my father, I stumbled upon a camera I had been looking for everywhere: the Yashica Mat 124G. Its previous owner sold it to me in near-mint condition for extremely cheap, and I already love it. Here are my first impressions.

Horizon 202: The Forerunner
written by nation_of_pomation on 2011-03-05 #gearNow that I’m college, one of my first missions was to find a photo lab, and I was lucky enough to find one that is also a camera store. While looking through their vintage cameras for sale, I happened on something I thought I’d see in person: a near-mint Horizon 202, the precursor to the Horizon 303 that Lomography’s Perfekt is based on. The Kodak Retina II C - A Family Heirloom
written by nation_of_pomation on 2010-12-20 #gearI was given this beautiful piece of German craftsmanship by my grandfather for my birthday this year. After using it for awhile, I can safely say it is one of the best fully manual rangefinders I've ever seen, and I'm so lucky to have one! Thanks, Granddad!

written by nation_of_pomation on 2010-08-14 #gearThe Holga 135TIM - it's that smiley face camera that has been popping up around and about the internet. Purportedly, the TIM stands for Twin Image Maker, and it sometimes comes with a matching, grinning Holga 12MFC flash. What lies behind grinning façade? Function, function, function.

Meikai 4353 SSN – Plastic Piece of Crap?
written by nation_of_pomation on 2010-06-27 #gearI found the Meikai 4353 SSN sitting, still shrink wrapped, in a bin at my local thrift store. It even had the little half-sheet of directions that originally came with it, and it looked both funny and promising with its seemingly random hot shoe thrown onto the thing, so at $3 I couldn’t say no.
