A short onset of winter in the otherwise much too mild winter this year in northern Germany. On the afternoon of the 2nd of February 2019 it started to snow only to thaw the next day. Homeprocess in Kodak Xtol 1+1 for 10 minutes.

Experimented with infrared ocean shots. The sun was to bright to get those cobalt blues I was hoping for, but I love how it captures everything on the rocks. Going to try shooting this again with Sarah earlier in the day.

    shared by andrejrusskovskij on 2013-07-01

Marta and Adele (aka Fusillini sisters) have been friends of mine for quite a long time and we spent some pretty crazy times together. I love taking pictures of them because even if their approach to the camera is totally different (Adele is really confident, Marta is rather shy and insecure) they are both really good at following instructions and I'm always satisfied with the outcome. Berlin, as usual, offered some perfect backgrounds to our photoshooting: the charming charlottenburg castle garden, the spooky and huge abandoned chemical factory in Rudersdorf and the never disappointing Mauerpark. http://andrejrusskovskij.com/?p=531

  • This has been a long time coming...

    shared by blueskyandhardrock on 2013-02-07

When I was in high school, I found this poem by Christina Rossetti called "Remember". It's about losing a loved one. It spoke to me so much that it became one of my three favorite poems (the other two are by Shakespeare and Neruda). When I started doing Lomography a few years back, I wanted to do a series inspired by this poem. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to. Then less than two years ago, I got my heart broken so badly and this poem helped me through that rough time. The wound has long healed and I finally have the courage talk about moving on through my photos. So I packed my Belair and my amazing tripod and set off to Malibu - to shoot a series inspired by both the poem and my heartbreak. Of course, the results aren't as good as they would have been had I used my Mamiya but I'm still happy, if only because I finally got to do this series and because it's a labor of love. My boyfriend and I got up at 5 am to drive all the way to Malibu for this series. My hands and feet were freezing the entire shoot AND we got a parking ticket for it so I really really hope people will enjoy the photos, even if they're not amazing quality.

My boyfriend's apartment looks so much like a set from one of David Lynch's movies, courtesy of his roommate, so I decided to do a David Lynch- inspired photo shoot. I wrote about the photo shoot on my blog too! Check it out >>> http://talesbehindportraits.com/2012/06/12/delving-into-disturbia/.

  • EBS at Waverley Abbey #1

    shared by buckshot on 2013-01-27

I hadn't seen anyone do an 'exposing both sides' (EBS) panorama album on here yet, so I figured I'd try it with a Horizon Perfekt. It was definitely one of the most technically challenging albums I've done so far - not only because EBS is itself tricky (you've got to get the homemade redscale prepared correctly, get both the redscale and normal exposures right, shoot twice in the same sequence so as not to screw up the symmetry, etc.), but because the Perfekt poses challenges of its own, such as not being able to use a conventional splitzer (I solved this by cutting a piece of black card to shape and gluing it onto the tiny UV filter that comes with the camera), not having any horizon line to line things up with in the viewfinder (solved by drawing a black line through the middle of a length of sellotape and sticking it onto the front of the viewfinder) and having its very own peculiar loading technique that makes it very difficult to re-align the film in the same place for the second shoot (I thought I'd solved this by taping a separate 15cm length of old negative to the take-up spool and taping the film I shot to this, lining it up with appropriate markings, but I still got it wrong by about half a centimetre, which is why you see some overlap in these shots). I shot the redscale layer just after sunrise, went home, flipped the film around (I think I'll get a changing bag for next time, so I can just flip the film on site), then went back and shot the normal layer just after noon, on a sunny but intermittently cloudy day. So yes, pretty challenging, but also very creatively satisfying. Worth the hassle...? Hell, yeah...!!! :-)

The last two months I was working in our laboratory in Las Vegas, NV. I took the weekends as opportunity to see more of the city outside the Las Vegas strip and to go to the desert ( i.e. Valley of Fire with Vici). On my last Vegas weekend, I drove to Death Valley National Park. I have always been curious about this place. The driest, the lowest and the hottest place in America they say. But they will also add....but it is also a very beautiful place... And since it was only two hours from Las Vegas, I went with my cameras and films, my 12 bottles of waters (which was not enough), my snacks and lots of sunblock. I also brought a disposable camera with me and these are some of the photos. :)
