The official opening of the monument was timed to coincide with a significant date for Dmitrov. In 2006, there was the 600th anniversary of the monastery. And the monument was a kind of gift by city officials for the monks and residents of the city. The author of the project was the sculptor and artist A. Rukovishnikov. The monument was consecrated.

The monument represents two bronze figures on the horses of the brothers Boris and Gleb. The design is mounted on a pedestal. From history it is known that they were the children of Vladimir I - the Kiev prince Vladimir Svyatoslavich. Often fought for the honor of their lands. Therefore, the artist depicted them in military clothing and with spears. There are many tales of the brothers, their exploits and achievements. After death, they were ranked as saints.
