Surfin' Munich
written by vicuna on 2009-05-20 #places"If everybody had an ocean/Across the U. S. A./Then everybody'd be surfin'/Like Californi-a" Well, when the Beach Boys sang this "Surfin' USA" 1963, they surely didn't think that it would be possible to surf in Munich, hundreds and hundreds km far away from the sea (and more from California of course...)

Richmond Park
written by neja on 2011-09-17 #placesThe largest park in London. Richmond Park is a 2,360 acre park within London. It is the largest of the Royal Parks in London and Britain's second largest urban walled park after Sutton Park, Birmingham. The park is famous for its red and fallow deer, which number over six hundred. It is so big, you can't see everything in one day. So we decided to try the route suggested by the Walks in London book by Rough Guides which I recently bought.

Mt. Eden Park, Auckland
written by vicuna on 2010-12-19 #placesMt. Eden Park in Auckland is made from an impressive former volcano crater and offers a great view over the whole area. It's perfectly safe to visit as it's already a dormant volcano - you can either enjoy a nice walk uphill or take a car if you're being lazy but once you get to the top, you'll quickly realize that all the effort is well worth it.

Kodak Ultramax 400
written by veato on 2011-06-18 #gearSeeing Ultramax as something of a consumer grade film I left it alone in favor of rarer and more expensive film to play with. Finding it on sale recently made it too good to pass up on so I picked up a few rolls. Not knowing what to expect tried some out in my Diana Mini and rushed the spent film off to the 1hr lab. This is what I found.

Wapping Woods
written by neja on 2011-03-18 #placesWapping was originally a Saxon settlement. This area was known as a marshland until the 16th century when it was drained. It then became a rich meadow and garden ground until it was acquired for the London Docks. By 1969, the docks at Wapping were empty. Trees were planted and it was optimistically called Wapping Woods. However, the trees could not survive and the result is the small park we have today.

Tuileries Garden
written by neja on 2011-12-20 #placesOne of the best things Paris can offer. Oh, those gardens! I keep on coming back. The pure beauty of Paris. Place de la Concorde, Tuileries Garden and then the Pyramids of Louvre - nothing can beat this experience! Created by Catherine de Medicis as the garden of the Tuileries Palace in 1564, it was first opened to the public in 1667, and became a public park after the French Revolution.

After one week looking for a room, we eventually found one in a very cute house at Rotherhithe in south east London. It looked like a nice neighborhood to live in, with a huge park, a leisure center, a shopping center, and very close to the Underground stations.
