Camera Modification Tips – Filters to Diana Mini

Diana Mini doesn’t have that many accessories, so it’s up to us to make our own ones. Here’s how you can mod your Diana Mini to take filters, without making any damage to your Mini

Things you need:

• 43 – 52 mm step-up filter ring (the latter number is your filter size, so choose one that fit your filters. I chose 52 mm, because it’s the most common one.)
• Black tape
• Scissors

I measured the diameter of Diana Mini’s lens and 43 mm step-up ring would be the best for the job. The 40,5 mm would have been closer the right one, but it wouldn’t fit without cutting off some plastic from the lens. 43 mm is little loose, but with black tape you can get a firm grip very easily. Here’s how:

First, cut few long strips of black tape. I cut five of them just to be sure that there’s enough.

Start putting the tape around the inner ring of step-up ring. Check if it fits the ring. If it’s loose, add another layer of tape. I needed 2 layers of tape to get a firm fit.

When it fits, put a tape on the opposite side of tape you just put. This way you cover the gluey side of the tape and make the whole thing little bit stronger.

Finally you tape the whole thing to your Mini lens, so it won’t fall…and that’s it! The best thing is that you can made this mod without making any damage to your camera!
