Richmond Park
written by neja on 2011-09-17 #placesThe largest park in London. Richmond Park is a 2,360 acre park within London. It is the largest of the Royal Parks in London and Britain's second largest urban walled park after Sutton Park, Birmingham. The park is famous for its red and fallow deer, which number over six hundred. It is so big, you can't see everything in one day. So we decided to try the route suggested by the Walks in London book by Rough Guides which I recently bought.

Durdle Door
written by neja on 2011-09-14 #placesDurdle Door is one of the most photographed landmarks along the Jurassic Coast. This rock arch in the sea was formed as a result of the softer rocks being eroded away behind the hard limestones, allowing the sea to punch through them. The name Durdle is derived from an old English word 'thirl' meaning bore or drill.

Boulders Beach, South Africa
written by neja on 2012-06-04 #placesBoulders Beach - the African penguins' paradise. Started in 1982 by Adam and Eve of the Penguins, it has grown to about 2200 in recent years. This is partly due to the reduction in commercial pelagic trawling in False Bay, which has increased the supply of pilchards and anchovy, that is so adored by the penguins. They like to eat squid as well. The African penguin is listed in the Red Data Book as an endangered specie.

Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, Cape Town
written by neja on 2012-07-31 #placesKirstenbosch - the biggest open-air botanical garden of all. I fell in love with this garden when I first came here back in 2004. So, when I arrived to Cape Town this year, I immediately wanted to go back. Although a few obstacles (in the shape of a vineyard visit and so on) almost prevented me from doing that, there I was, still back at Kirstenbosch!
